Cultural Apologetics Among Mortals

Nearing the seventieth issue of Kirkman & Moore’s The Walking Dead I am beginning to figure out what the story is about. It is not about the “roamers”, “walkers”, “biters”, or whatever caused the zombie apocalypse: that is just a backdrop. TWD is about the experience of guilt and what that tells about the human condition. This is what I will write about: what is it that makes us feel guilty for our actions, even in highly exceptional circumstances? Does answering that lead to any conclusions?
In these panels from issue 63 Father Stokes shares his burden of guilt.
